About the Pastor

The Reverend C. Dennis Williams has been preaching God’s Word for 35 years and pastoring for 26 years. Dr. Williams served as the Senior Pastor of Bethel A.M.E. in Yakima, Washington from 1985-1987; Walker Chapel A.M.E. Church in Seattle, Washington from 1987-1990; St. John A.M.E. Church in St. Louis, Missouri from 1990-1996; Bethel Memorial A.M.E. Church in San Diego, California from 1996 to June, 2006; Ward A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles from June, 2006 to November, 2010; and now serves as the Senior Pastor of Brookins Community A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Williams has served as an Adjunct Professor of Preaching at Bethel Theological Seminary in San Diego, California; is an Adjunct Professor of Preaching at the Ecumenical Center for Black Church Studies at the University of La Verne in Los Angeles; is currently an adjunct professor of Preaching at San Francisco Theological Seminary, Pasadena Campus; and has served as a mentor of the Doctoral Program at United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio; he serves on

the board of the United Negro College Fund; serves as the chair for the Southern. California Conference Board of Trustees, 5th Episcopal District; and has served on the General Board of the A.M.E. Church.

He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in History/Religion from Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas; a Master of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies from Bethany Theological Seminary in Dothan, Alabama; and a Doctor of Ministry degree in preaching from United Theological Seminary. Dr. Williams has also studied at McCormick Theological Seminary as well as Payne Theological Seminary. Dr. Williams has recently published a book entitled, “HIV/AIDS in the Black Church”, which has been published by AuthorHouse. He is currently working on his second book, entitled, “Pastoring in Scandalous Pasture.” The Rev. Dr. Williams and his lovely wife, Yvette, have two beautiful daughters, Desireé and Faith; and a son, Calvin Dennis (“C.D.”) Williams, II, and one grandson, Jordan Kenneth.
